Hip Implant Dislocation
Patients with DePuy ASR XL Acetabular System or ASR Hip Resurfacing System hip replacements may face an increased risk of hip dislocation. Both devices were recalled by DePuy in August 2010 after it was revealed that the hip replacements were significantly more likely to fail than other implants.
Dislocation of a hip implant occurs when the femoral head slips out of the artificial acetabular cup. This can happen suddenly and result in severe pain for hip replacement patients. Hip implant dislocation requires emergency medical attention and can harm surrounding tissues. Many patients that have experienced hip replacement dislocation have had to undergo revision surgery to repair damaged issue.
If you or a loved one received a DePuy hip replacement and have experienced hip dislocation or undergone revision surgery to replace the implant, you may be eligible to file a lawsuit.
